The Party of the European Left (EL) participate in the XXIV Foro de Sao Paulo (FSP) in la Habana, Cuba

Joint statement by Maite Mola, responsible of the EL international relations, and Marco Consolo, EL Latin America WG coordinator.

It has been years that the EL and the Foro de Sao Paulo (FSP) representatives are exchanging common analysis and implement mutual solidarity. This year, the delegation of 14 comrades from 9 European countries has participated in XXIV FSP in la Habana, Cuba.

“6 months to the 60thanniversary of the Cuban Revolution, the EL and the FSP have organized together in La Habana the III Seminar of Shared Visions from the Left with an extraordinary success with more than 120 participants from all around Latin America and Caribbean as well as other countries worldwide. The international solidarity is more than needed in this era of intensification of the crisis and judicialization of politics, with the consequent growth of the extreme right and detention of political leaders such as Lula, and persecution of others such as Correa, Lugo and Sanchez Ceren.
The EL and FSP will continue to work together, as has been written in the FSP last declaration, as the battles against the capitalism to achieve more progressive and feminist results is wide open” these words have been pronounced by Maite Mola.

Marco Consolo expresses also the need of concrete common actions: “Both political forces and social movements have to work together in order to implement new progressive paths towards a just world. The actual neoliberal politics, especially on free trade treaties and migration are not answering the need of a fair cooperation between countries and people.
We think that women have a special place in these changes, and we have to highlight the great mobilizations both in Europe and in Latin America: the feminist movement shows the capacity to strengthen the struggles.
Work on media and social networks is fundamental as means of resistance and attack.
We will see each other again in the European Forum in Bilbao to continue the common struggle and build common alternatives.
